Confession: I could eat my weight in Hush Puppies. They are perfect little fried doughs of bread. Ever since I was a little kid, I could make a whole meal on hush puppies. I may have grown up in West By God Virginia but every year we went to the beach and we’d go eat seafood where I’d sustain on hush puppies for an entire week. I think my parents would agree that Hush Dem Puppies is appropriate because when hush puppies hit the table my brother and I quit whining.
As much as I love them I’ve never made them at home before. They’ve always felt like a luxury I get at a seafood restaurant but now that I’ve done them at home, this might become a staple in our house. Even Allen, who’s not a foodie like me (I know, how does that even happen), was like, “These are really good. You need to make these again.” That definitely means they are good.
